Partnership between Great River Brewery and the Quad City Times.
Background:
The Quad City Times partnered with Great River Brewery on the pale ale. This project was completed when I worked for Lee Enterprise's Big Pitch Team. The Quad City Times is a subsidiary of Lee.
Design:
Right from the start I knew what design direction I wanted to take. My team and I had gone on a site visit to the brewery and I found inspiration in Great River's Dirty Blonde Chocolate Ale beer can design.
The Dirty Blonde Chocolate Ale had chocolate dripping down from the top of the can. I wanted my design to relate to and feel like Great River's style, so I mimicked the dripping effect in mine, but with ink.
I used the ink, newspaper background, and Blackletter typography to tie into the old timey newspaper feel. My design was selected out of the five my team submitted.
